Smith Dorrien House, originally built in 1908 as a former barracks institute, forms an important part of Aldershot’s military heritage. As part of the wider Wellesley Project, the building was designated as Grainger Plc’s project headquarters, prompting the need for a full and sensitive refurbishment. Given its Grade II listed status, great care was taken to respect and preserve the building’s architectural significance while upgrading it to meet modern functional requirements.

The refurbishment included the meticulous restoration of the building’s many period features, carried out by skilled craftsmen and specialist trades to ensure authenticity and longevity. Alongside this, essential internal and external works were undertaken to improve usability, performance, and overall building condition. The result is a thoughtfully revitalised landmark that retains its historic character while providing a high-quality, contemporary workspace within the Wellesley development.
