The Section 278 works at Boundary Oak School comprised the construction of a new left-in / left-out junction on the A32, delivered under live traffic conditions with full temporary traffic management in place. The scope included tree and hedgerow removal, installation of new drainage systems, connecting into the existing surface water network, and the installation of new kerbs and full carriageway construction, including base and surface courses. Works also involved widening the live A-road, concrete protection over shallow live services (including gas and BT), installation of new signage, illuminated signs, lighting columns, and new live services. Tree Protection Barriers were erected to safeguard retained vegetation, and a new footpath and school access were constructed to provide a safe and improved access to Boundary Oak School via the new junction. The scheme was successfully delivered as a coordinated civil engineering package, improving safety, capacity, and access along this strategic route.
