The River Wallington forms the northern boundary of the Berewood residential development in Waterlooville. Over time Berewood will comprise in excess of 3,000 new homes with associated community facilities (School, Pub, open space, leisure areas etc)
As part of the overall planning approval for the Berewood development, there was a requirement to replace a 1.2 km long concrete channel which formed part of the River Wallington with a meandering, aesthetically pleasing water course. The works included creating a landscaped buffer zone between the river and the adjacent residential and employment areas. We also created paths with seating, litter bins, and a number of pedestrian bridges to cross the river. Attenuation ponds were formed to allow the flow of water from the new development in to the river to be managed.
